Behavioural (STAR Method) Interview Questions
Nearly every interview uses the STAR framework to evaluate your answers. This quiz checks whether you actually understand how to structure stories that land.

Interview preparation guide
The quiz above is a quick way to check your knowledge. Before the interview, prepare a specific example for each of these themes: STAR Structure, Storytelling, Self-Awareness. Practise saying your answer aloud, then refine the detail, evidence and outcome rather than memorising a script.
Question 1 · STAR Framework — Situation
The Situation sets context: when, where, what was happening, and why it mattered. Keep it concise (2-3 sentences) but specific enough that the interviewer understands the stakes.
Question 2 · STAR Framework — Task
The Task is your specific responsibility or goal, not the actions you took. "I was tasked with cutting load time 40%" (Task) vs "I optimised the images" (Action). Many candidates skip straight to Action.
Question 3 · STAR Framework — Action
Interviewers want to evaluate you, not your team. Using "I" for your specific contributions — decisions, trade-offs, initiative — is critical. Acknowledge the team while staying clear about your impact.
Question 4 · STAR Framework — Result
Quantified results ("reduced load time by 45%", "saved 10 hours a week") beat vague outcomes. Adding a learning or reflection shows self-awareness, which interviewers value highly.
Question 5 · Answer Pacing
The sweet spot is 1.5 to 3 minutes. Under 1 minute usually lacks depth; over 3 minutes risks losing the interviewer's attention. Practising your timing is one of the most impactful things you can do.
Use the quiz to identify the theme you need to improve, then rehearse it as a spoken answer and get feedback on your structure, pace and specificity.
